The Site & Patient Networks (S&PN) division of IQVIA™ specialises in engaging and communicating with patients, advocates, caregivers, disease-specific non-profit groups and healthcare professionals on a range of healthcare topics, ranging from clinical trial awareness and recruitment, to incorporation of patient insights into study design and patient education and support. We do this on behalf of an impressive list of top biopharmaceutical and life sciences clients, and strive to make a positive difference for the patients we serve.
In this role you will be responsible for growing the patient advocacy function across Europe and other global regions, to ensure project delivery teams are getting the rights insights for the right patients for assigned projects. Specifically, the position is responsible for managing patient advocacy projects, which will include awarded business from pharmaceutical, biotech and life sciences sponsors, and will span phases I-IV clinical research.

Key project activities will include:
1) Identification, outreach and engagement of patient advocacy groups and umbrella organizations across a wide range of therapeutic areas and indications across Europe and in all global regions.
2) Increase awareness of clinical studies and enrolment opportunities within patient communities via education and engagement.
3) Manage all components of project work, including administrative functions related to budget creation and contract management
4) Analyse and interpret patient data from multiple sources, including social listening data, to draw conclusions and define optimal operational delivery strategies, focused on patient identification, engagement, recruitment and retention in clinical trials
5) Gather and translate patient insights into all phases of clinical trials design and delivery, via creation and management of patient surveys, interviews and patient advisory boards
6) Drive efficiency in patient engagement and retention, as well as project delivery
7) Improve the patient experience in clinical studies via incorporation of patient insights
8) Provide insight for creation and/or management of patient communities, adhering to local laws, regulations, policies and best practices.
9) Work across functions to assimilate the patient experience into operational success
10) Develop new business via delivery of proposals and presentations to customers, internal business units, and patient advocacy groups. This will include creating presentations or leading discussions, as well as strategy development, for patient engagement and/or innovation efforts.
11) Serve as a Subject Matter Expert with regards to patient advocacy groups and patient-centric approaches. In collaboration with other members of our Patient Recruitment Programs team, the candidate will develop relevant coordinated strategies for proposals, attend general capability and bid-defense meetings.
12) Create, document and share best practices amongst the global patient advocacy and insights team, cross-functional groups, and external partners. Will assume leadership for assigned activities to improve the structure and function of the team, as needed. 

The successful individual will have pharma and/or CRO experience, and a clinical operations background is critical to success. The ideal candidate will have experience working in patient advocacy or alliance management, and will have a solid understanding of European regulations, including privacy and clinical trial results requirements. Operational experience in the drug development realm and an understanding of the phases of research and intricacies of project delivery are necessary.

The ideal candidate will able to lead well through ambiguity and deliver independently, but also function well as a global team member, with strong communication skills and sensitivity to deal with patient-related and cultural issues.

We require the position to be office based in either UK (Reading, Berkshire) or France (Paris).

Key Responsibilities:
• Identify and routinely engage patient advocacy groups and patient communities to understand the patient perspective, barriers and perceptions regarding clinical research, to contribute to successful patient engagement and project delivery. This will include development of PAG-specific communication plans and meetings.
• Develop and manage patient advisory boards or leverage other methodologies to obtain patient insights. Analyse patient data and draw conclusions, making suggestions for improved patient engagement.
• Develop patient-focused recruitment and retention strategies, including recruitment and retention tools and messaging.
• Participate in creation of effective strategic goals for S&PN operations and take ownership for strategic initiatives, including development of measures for success within the assigned region and across the global patient advocacy and insights team.
• Provide leadership to ensure service offerings meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Manage operational delivery to achieve outputs against pre-defined targets for patient advocacy group engagement, gathering and analysis of patient insights, translation of the patient perspective into study management, and enhanced patient recruitment or retention.
• Contribute to the provision of strategic leadership within the group, establishing and delivering upon business development goals, and building new business for Site and Patient Networks within the patient advocacy and insights function, or indirectly impacting new business wins across the organization due to relationships, insights, or influence.
• Work collaboratively with project leadership, client representatives and other functional leadership to manage project related challenges and to achieve exemplary customer service.
• Ensure quality and regulatory appropriateness and acceptance of all service offerings, and ensure all country-specific requirements are followed.
• Support corporate or departmental quality or process improvement initiatives. May act as a client or vendor liaison for the S&PN function

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Deep knowledge of the drug development processes; knowledge of S&PN processes and practices is preferred
• Knowledge of pharma operational delivery and all regulatory requirements is required
• Patient advocacy experience, with preference being given to those who have experience building patient advocacy relationships, delivering on patient advocacy objectives, and/or experience surveying or interviewing patients or conducting advisory boards. Known advocacy relationships are a differentiator
• Demonstrated commitment to patient advocacy and/or patient-centred drug development
• Proven experience building internal and external relationships
• Experience managing global projects and/or teams is an asset, as is the ability to manage multiple customers, priorities and timelines simultaneously
• Proficient ability to analyse metrics and information; ensuring activities and strategies are data driven
• Knowledge and ability to apply GCP/ICH and applicable regulatory guidelines
• Ability to manage project financial tracking and accounting methods
• Good leadership skills, with the ability to develop and deliver on strategic objectives
• Experience working in a matrix organization
• Effective presentation skills
• Computer skills including proficiency in use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Good written and verbal communication skills, including good command of English
• Effective organizational and problem solving skills
• Effective time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers and clients
• Additional European language skills – English and one additional language preferred
• Ability to occasionally work outside of normal business hours, to attend patient-related events or to engage within the community
• Bachelor's degree in a health care or other scientific discipline or educational equivalent; relevant industry experience with demonstrable experience in a leadership capacity; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Desire to maintain awareness of industry trends in innovation and patient-centricity.
• Travel up to 30% may be required for presentations, patient advocacy and industry meetings.
